Morning Barn
The Grand Tetons are some of the most beautiful mountains in the United States lower 48 (in my opinion.) One reason is because how these tall, majestic mountains seem to pop out over the valley floor. The barn was built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between 1912 and 1945. It sits west of the road known as Mormon Row in an area called Antelope Flats.
Teton Barn II
The barn is all that remains of the homestead built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between about 1912 and 1945. It sits west of the road known as Mormon Row in an area called Antelope Flats in the Grand Teton National Park.
The Cart
This carriage is located at the entrance of the Gros Ventre River Ranch just east of the Grand Tetons NP. The mountains in the background are the southern tip of the Teton Range in Wyoming, USA.
Mormon Home in Ruins
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons, sent parties from the Salt Lake Valley to establish new communities and support their expanding population. Mormon homesteaders, who settled east of Blacktail Butte near the turn of the 19-century, clustered their farms to share labor and community, a stark contrast with the isolation typical of many western homesteads. These settlers first arrived in the 1890s from Idaho establishing a community (named Grovont by the U.S. Post Office) known today as “Mormon Row.”

Thomas A. Moulton Barn
Thomas Alma Moulton first homesteaded this property in 1907 as a bachelor. He came over Teton Pass with his brother John and neighbor Thomas Perry. By 1912, he had married and he brought his new wife, Lucile, over the Teton Pass to permanently settle in the Jackson Hole valley. Today, what remains from his homestead is only a barn, but the barn has created a legacy beyond anything Alma Moulton or his children could have imagined. Billed as the “most photographed barn in America,” this structure had humble beginnings.
Teton Outhouse II
Grand Teton National Park is an American national park in northwestern Wyoming. At approximately 310,000 acres, the park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. Grand Teton National Park is only 10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park.

A Horseless Carriage
This carriage is located at the entrance of the Gros Ventre River Ranch just east of the Grand Tetons NP. The mountains in the background are the southern tip of the Teton Range in Wyoming, USA. Not the true meaning of a horseless carriage, however there is a carriage and there is no horse. I suspect the horse got tired of ‘’waiting around.’’
Grazing Cattle
Nice panoramic of almost the entire Grand Teton mountain range. It would have been great if this fence were not built on top of some unappealing asphalt. Clearly the fence would deteriorate extremely fast if it were built on top of grass and dirt. I get it, these ranchers need to cut cost, clearly they are already living in the high rent district.
Another ''Picture Window'' taken in my early days (1994.)
This structure does not exist anymore (as of 2001.) The park service claimed they were not going to maintain the structures in this area (called Mormon Row.) However, anyone who has visited this area knows that they had a change of heart. After all, it does attract a lot of visitors.
Sunrise on Moran (Osprey Crossing)
This is one of my favorite images of Mt. Moran. Mainly because I caught the Osprey crossing the river. It was nerve-racking at first because I saw the birds crossing and I knew I had a two second delay on the shutter (mirror-up.) I triggered it immediately and can still recall to this day hearing the click while watching the birds crossing the river. I knew I had it even without that handy LCD screen! Glad the camera was not set for long-exposure!
October at Mt. Moran
This is truly one of my favorite areas. I will often spend over a week here without even visiting Yellowstone (the neighboring park.)
Mt. Moran at Oxbow Bend
The reflection looks like it has been casted by a lake, but it is actually a section of the Snake River called Oxbow Bend. Oxbow Bend is a crescent-shaped section of river lying alongside a flowing, winding river. The oxbow is created over time as erosion and deposits of soil change the river's course.
Schwabacher's Landing
Schwabacher’s Landing is a spot on the Snake River, almost exactly east of Grand Teton, where the terrain flattens out and allows easy access to the river. There is a dirt road coming off the main highway and down to various trailheads.
Predawn in the Grand Tetons
The Teton Range is a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains in North America. It extends for approximately 40 miles (64 km) in a north–south direction through the U.S. state of Wyoming, east of the Idaho state line. It is south of Yellowstone National Park and most of the east side of the range is within Grand Teton National Park.
Predawn in the Grand Tetons
Using a two-stop grad filter help bring out the color. For those of you who do not know a grad filter starts out dark at the top and clear at the bottom. It is kind of like a plastic filter that attaches to the front of the lens.

Sunset Over Jenny Lake
Jenny Lake is in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The lake was formed approximately 12,000 years ago by glaciers pushing rock debris which carved Cascade Canyon during the last glacial maximum, forming a terminal moraine which now impounds the lake. Jenny Lake is a major focal point in Grand Teton National Park, with many hiking trails, scenic boat rides, and quick access to the major climbing routes onto the tallest peaks of the Teton Range.

Bison in a Golden Field
After facing near extinction at one point, Bison made a large comeback and are very prevalent along here in Antelope Valley which is located just South of the Teton range.
Thirsty Bison
I definitely disturbed this guy while he was quenching his thirst. I was brave enough to climb out of my Jeep and start taking some pictures. That is when he looked up and took notice of me. co incidentally enough, that is about the time I strategized my exit plan.
Bison Grazing
These are known as the American Bison. Although commonly known as a buffalo in the United States and Canada, it is only distantly related to the true buffalo.
Grand Tetons 2001
I liked, all the clouds do we know what they were unfortunately this is back in 2001 and since digital is not perfected, I am using film so unfortunately some of the clouds are blown out.

Jenny Lake Overlook
With Mount Moran staring directly in front, you can see a nice dusting of snow along the Teton range. And yes, it was a little chilly this morning as I crawled out of my snow-covered tent. No big deal, we used to sleep in the snow without tents back in my mountain climbing days. Mind you, it was not actually snowing at the time.
Grand Teton Range
You can see the Grand Tetons about 1/4 from the left in Mount Moran about 1/4 from the right.

My name is Scott and this is my second major website revision for ScottHamptonPhotography.com. I am an IT pro but not a website designer. My old photography website was very ‘’static’’ looking and needed to be moved into the modern world. Luckily I was able to find an app that helped me move my website into the modern age! As a result, this site is currently in development and has minimal navigational (or any other) features at this time(November 2015.)
